Question 1

How can an Indian dentist practise in Singapore?

Accepted Answer

A foreign-trained dentist can generally apply for conditional registration only if their degree is on the Singapore Dental Council's list of registrable qualifications and they have a job offer from an approved employer. Eligibility should be checked with the SDC first.

Question 2

Is my BDS degree recognised in Singapore?

Accepted Answer

Only qualifications on the SDC list of registrable qualifications are eligible, and many dental degrees are not on that list. Please check the current list published by the Singapore Dental Council before planning your move.

Question 3

What is conditional registration for dentists in Singapore?

Accepted Answer

Conditional registration allows an eligible foreign-trained dentist to practise under supervision with an approved employer for a set period. After meeting the requirements, the dentist may be considered for full registration.

Question 4

Do I need a job offer to register as a dentist in Singapore?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Conditional registration generally requires a job offer from an approved employer or healthcare institution, which usually supports the application.

Question 5

Is there a licensing exam for dentists in Singapore?

Accepted Answer

Singapore's pathway for foreign-trained dentists is mainly based on registrable qualifications, employment and supervised practice rather than an open licensing exam. Confirm current rules with the Singapore Dental Council.

Question 6

Does MCDI guarantee Singapore dental registration or a job?

Accepted Answer

No. MCDI assists with documentation and guidance only. We do not arrange employment or issue licences, and registration decisions are made solely by the Singapore Dental Council.
